How to get Decrypted Data in Destiny 2

Season of the Splicer runs on Decrypted Data. Learn how to get your hands on this currency to get the most out of this season's activities.

Decrypted Data is one of the new consumable currencies that was added in Season of the Splicer. Many of the new features in this season need this currency to be unlocked. If you’re looking to get the most out of this season, you’ll need to focus on farming decrypted data. This article will help you learn how you can get your hands on it, what it’s used for, and the best way to farm it quickly.

How to Get Decrypted Data

There are currently 3 different ways to get your hands on this currency. Two of which are limited by time-gate mechanics so the amount of data you can earn each week will be directly affected by how much time you can dedicate to playing seasonal activities.

  • Season Pass Premium Track: Awarded at Ranks 2, 12, & 32.
  • Two Weekly Challenges: Completing specific seasonal challenges awards Decrypted Data.
  • Override: Opening the second Conflux Chest after defeating the boss.

What is Decrypted Data used for?

There are currently two uses for this currency. The first is to purchase Splicer Gauntlet upgrades. These upgrades perform a variety of functions from making combatants have a higher chance of dropping Ether to increasing the number of Key Codes you can carry at one time.

The other function of Decrypted Data is to focus Umbral Engrams and the Prismatic Recaster in the H.E.L.M.

Focusing an engram at Tier 1 will run you 25 Decrypted Data, but that cost will go up as Tier 2 and Tier 3 focusing options become available later on in the season.

It’s important to remember that this single currency is used for multiple things. If you get carried away, you can spend it all focusing engrams and have nothing left when you go to upgrade your Splicer Gauntlet. (Like I did on day 1 of the season.)

Best Way to Earn Decrypted Data

If you’re looking to upgrade your Splicer Gauntlet as fast as possible or focus engrams to get the new weapons and armor ASAP, you’re going to need a lot of this currency.

The best way to get Decrypted Data quickly is to make sure you do the two Challenges every week. You are guaranteed to get a set amount here every week so if you can only log on for a little bit, make sure you get these done.

Then, you’ll want to spend a lot of time in Override. That means you’re going to need to focus on getting Ether and making Key Codes so you can open the Conflux chest at the end of each activity. Override isn’t an overly difficult game mode right in its current state and you can finish a run pretty quickly.

This will net you 35x data at the end of each run. That isn’t a lot, but the time goes by pretty quickly if you queue up in a fireteam with your friends.

The Premium Path on the Season Pass isn’t a great source of Decrypted Data since you’re only able to get 3 rewards from it. After you hit rank 32, there aren’t any more sources for data which makes this the smallest source for the currency. I wouldn’t be too worried about the Season Pass. If you play the game regularly, you’ll definitely exhaust this source pretty quickly. Just play the game and pick up the data when you hit those ranks.

Recap

Leveling up your Splicer Gauntlet and earning all the seasonal triumphs will cost you a lot of Decrypted Data. While there aren’t many sources for this currency, you can experience all this season has to offer by following this guide.
