Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades in Season of the Splicer

Learn more about the Splicer Gauntlet and what order you should pick its upgrades in this guide.

With the new season comes a new gameplay loop for the seasonal activity. With Season of the Splicer, we have the Splicer Gauntlet and Override. Similar to previous seasons, players will have to earn Ether in order to create Key Codes with the Splicer Gauntlet. Then they’ll take the Key Codes into Override to open up a second chest that awards them additional Decrypted Data. Decrypted Data is then used to unlock various Splicer Gauntlet upgrades.

Quick note, Decrypted Data is a SHARED currency. This is used for both upgrading your Splicer Gauntlet and focusing Umbral Engrams. Don’t be like me and waste a few hundred data before understanding that link.

This guide will help you understand which Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades are the most important and what order you need to take them in.

Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades

Just like the Hammer of Proving, the Splicer Gauntlet comes with a host of upgrades that are broken up into 3 tiers. The list of those upgrades can be seen below.

Tier I Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades

The upgrades on this row of the Splicer Gauntlet cost 100 Decrypted Data to unlock.

  • Codestrider: Additional platforms can now be utilized in the Vex network.
  • Override Efficiency: Override chests have increased rewards. Standard Vex chests now have a chance to drop seasonal gear. Conflux Chests now have a chance to drop Umbral Engrams and can drop up to 1 Focused Umbral Engram per week.
  • Deletion Exclusion: Laser and wall defenses now deal slightly less damage to you inside the Vex network.
  • Ether Filter: Defeated combatants now have a higher chance to drop Ether.
  • Halt and Open Fire: Ammo replenished by ammo crates in Override is slightly increased.
  • Memory Expansion: The Gauntlet’s Ether capacity is increased by 50, and its Key Code capacity is increased from 3 to 4.
  • Corrupted Data: Data for this upgrade has been corrupted. Mithrax is working on a solution.

What order should you take?

  1. Memory Expansion
  2. Override Efficiency
  3. Ether Filter
  4. Halt and Open Fire
  5. Codestrider
  6. Deletion Exclusion
  7. Corrupted Data

I’ve seen other guides saying that you need to take Ether Filter first. You genuinely don’t need to. Ether is not hard to come by at this stage of the season. Taking that first is a waste of your decrypted data that could be used on Override Efficiency or Memory Expansion. Both of which are far more effective Splicer Gauntlet upgrades.

Being able to hold more Ether and get more rewards per Override run creates a better overall gameplay loop that’s much more rewarding than the base version.

Tier II Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades

The upgrades on this row of the Splicer Gauntlet cost 300 Decrypted Data to unlock.

  • Corrupted Data: Data for this upgrade has been corrupted. Mithrax is working on a solution.
  • Override Efficiency II: Override chests have increased rewards. Standard Vex chests have a higher chance to drop seasonal gear. Conflux Chests have a higher chance to drop Umbral Engrams and can drop up to 2 Focused Umbral Engram per week.
  • Deletion Exclusion II: Laser and wall defenses now deal moderately less damage to you inside the Vex network.
  • Ether Recirculator: Defeated combatants now have a higher chance to drop Ether.
  • Halt and Open Fire II: Ammo replenished by ammo crates in Override is moderately increased.
  • Memory Expansion II: The Gauntlet’s Ether capacity is increased by 50, and its Key Code capacity is increased from 4 to 5.
  • Corrupted Data: Data for this upgrade has been corrupted. Mithrax is working on a solution.

What order should you take?

  1. Ether Recirculator
  2. Memory Expansion II
  3. Override Efficiency II
  4. Halt and Open Fire II
  5. Deletion Exclusion II
  6. Corrupted Data
  7. Corrupted Data

The cost of upgrades triples on this tier so the Ether Recirculator upgrade jumps to the top of the list. This will boost your Ether drop rate to keep you flush with the currency so you can keep buying Key Codes to make it easier to farm Override.

The rest of the list remains the same depending on what the Corrupted Data nodes turn into once Mithrax unlocks them.

Tier III Splicer Gauntlet Upgrades

The upgrades on this row of the Splicer Gauntlet cost 500 Decrypted Data to unlock.

  • Corrupted Data: Data for this upgrade has been corrupted. Mithrax is working on a solution.
  • Override Efficiency III: Override chests have increased rewards. Standard Vex chests have a higher chance to drop seasonal gear. Conflux Chests have a higher chance to drop Umbral Engrams and can drop up to 3 Focused Umbral Engram per week.
  • Deletion Exclusion III: Laser and wall defenses now deal significantly less damage to you inside the Vex network.
  • Ether Purifier: Defeated combatants now have a higher chance to drop Ether. Ether earned by completing activities has been increased.
  • Halt and Open Fire III: Ammo replenished by ammo crates in Override is significantly increased.
  • Memory Expansion III: The Gauntlet’s Ether capacity is increased by 100, and its Key Code capacity is increased from 5 to 6.
  • Corrupted Data: Data for this upgrade has been corrupted. Mithrax is working on a solution.

What order should you take?

  1. Ether Recirculator
  2. Memory Expansion III
  3. Override Efficiency III
  4. Halt and Open Fire III
  5. Deletion Exclusion III
  6. Corrupted Data
  7. Corrupted Data

The list for these splicer gauntlet upgrades should come as no surprise. They’re exactly the same as the Tier II list. That’s because 500 Decrypted Data is a steep cost and we don’t want to be starved for Ether at any time. Hopefully, the boost to activity completions will make that jump in cost more palatable.

Recap

This season’s Splicer Gauntlet and its respective upgrades feel a lot better than they have in previous seasons. The seasonal gameplay loop feels a lot more polished and rewarding as well. We’re looking forward to maxing out the Splicer Gauntlet upgrades to see how it affects our time in game.

Also, keep in mind that these lists are subject to change. The upgrades that are hidden behind the Corrupted Data nodes may change depending on when they’re unlocked and what they are. They will undoubtedly be unlocked by progressing this season’s story in the coming weeks, but we won’t know what they are until they’re available.
